Our Distinguished History
Our comprehensive history in metalworking began in 1941, with the founding of Tubing Seal Cap in Azusa, California, a sleepy ranching town in that era. Our founder came up with a creative solution to the problem of oil leakage in farm tractors with a uniquely designed seal, which in classic inventive fashion, he manufactured by using a farm tractor engine to power a makeshift metal press.
We honor the achievements of our founders and predecessors and try to carry on their traditions every working day.
That was the first of many innovations. Over the years, Tubing Seal Cap became a leader in deep draw and hydroforming technology, which it applied to products as widely varied as doorknobs and the stub ends of aluminum baseball bats. By the early 1980s, an article in People magazine highlighted Tubing Seal Cap as the manufacturer of the majority of the world’s doorknobs.
The late 1980s brought growth and change to this specialty manufacturer. Private financial buyers acquired Tubing Seal Cap and merged it with a complementary company, La Verne Metal Products, a high-volume sheet fabrication firm. This merger resulted in the establishment of corporate parent company Pacific Precision Metals Inc. and ultimately created an organization that could handle most manufacturing projects that organized with sheet metal.
High-tech precision manufacturing was added to the enterprise in 1998 with the acquisition of Pacific Fabrication, a leader in tool design, progressive stamping and four-slide products. Pacific Fabrication’s senior executive still leads our combined manufacturing efforts today.
Another major step in our evolution came in 2000, when Pacific Precision Metals Inc. acquired BII de Mexico, a maquiladora company operating out of a modern industrial park in the heart of Tijuana, Mexico. BII had been formed in 1990 by a former executive of one of Pacific Precision Metals Inc.’s constituent companies. Its fit with the U.S. operation of Pacific Precision Metals Inc. was already very close, and today our U.S. engineers still work with BII’s skilled Mexican production and assembly teams in a uniquely collegial relationship.
The most recent chapter of our company’s development was realized in November 2010, when it was purchased by private investment group Triyar Capital. We remain Pacific Precision Metals, an established identity with a 70-year heritage of metal forming leadership. We posses the resources and know-how necessary to meet the majority of manufacturing challenges, and in utilizing our assets, we will continue to carry forth the tradition of achievement set forth by our founders and predecessors.
