Design
We’re well known for developing innovative, cost-effective solutions to difficult design challenges. Our engineering team is adept at applying different metalworking techniques to achieve surprising results. Even when we are brought in to evaluate existing products that have been designed and manufactured by capable suppliers, our team often finds ways to produce the same parts with higher uniformity at a reduced cost. Pacific Precision Metals has in-house toolmaking capability and regularly executes entire projects from price quotation, mechanical design, tool design and construction, all the way through manufacturing, assembly, packaging and final delivery.
Quality
Quality is built into all of our products from inception, with each product designed for functionality and manufacturability. Prior to production, we inspect all raw materials, tools and dies, and we conduct first-article inspections of the parts. During production, operators and inspectors monitor parts with hard gauges and other instruments. A final detailed product inspection ensures that each shipment meets specifications prior to leaving the warehouse.
Control
We’re proud of our disciplined approach to manufacturing, taking full advantage of a modern production software system. We offer our customers and vendors Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), allowing for paperless sales, shipping, invoicing and payment transactions. Customer forecasts and production release schedules are input into a sophisticated MRP system. Computer-generated routings govern shop floor control, master scheduling, inventory control, purchasing, and quality assurance. All orders, schedules, inventories and ship dates are monitored for on-time delivery. Our capabilities include online transfer of drawings and designs for CAD/CAM, Pro-E, and striker tool design.
Efficiency
Our entire plant is run under modern cellular-manufacturing protocols. Cells are organized to make maximum use of the plant’s 150,000 square feet of manufacturing space, with movable cell boundaries to flexibly accommodate changes in the production volume for particular products. Labor is used efficiently with the most highly-skilled individuals deployed in positions where they have demonstrated expertise. In addition, We maintain excellent relationships with our vendors to allow just-in-time delivery from our vendors to us, and then from us to our own customers.
